good to know! thanksPixie is a dwarf, smaller leaves and tight clusters of flowers......no huge, adventurous canes of growth. These are used often, along with Pixie Queen, in the Palm Springs area. Typically they are about 3' in the landscape, though I have seen some older specimens that can reach about 6'. Compare to regular bougainvillea that can easily scramble up trees to 20-25'
thanksNice, @hinmo24t!
A couple of comments. First, in your location I would expect this to remain the same size (i.e., thickness) for...well, pretty much forever. But something you might try that I have had some success with is allow growth to extend several inches out, then prune back hard, rinse and repeat. Seems like the only way I have gotten mine to thicken up perceptibly at all. Second, the soil you have this in looks pretty moisture retentive. These do not like to stay wet, so I suggest you keep a close eye on the soil moisture this year, then maybe next summer repot it into a drier mix that you can water every day. I have gotten better growth since I started doing that.
It is. Those light colored leaves at the ends are going to be blooms.Might show some color soon...
hope so! how are your purple ones? didnt you get them this season? It is. Those light colored leaves at the ends are going to be blooms.
I got one purple and one red. I repotted them both and they are starting to show a little color. It's interesting how much smaller the leaves on the purple one are compared to the red one.hope so! how are your purple ones? didnt you get them this season?
