Pixie Bougainvillea - In Bloom

Dunno, down here in North Africa they seem to do just fine. They should be used more in the med countries imo, seems like they are treated more as a novelty tree.

Here, zone 8, temps can go down to 10°C (this morning, I had to scrape the windscreen, it was -3) so without a greenhouse, it's a complete no-no. But Starfox, where you live, you should try it. Here is a photo taken I portugal, in a small town south of Lisboa, in late October 2016. They can survive outside, which, for me, is what (local) bonsai should be able to do :

Yes, in Tampa your winter is quite short. No problem at all. You probably do not need to worry much about light intensity, any window will do fine. The further north one is, the more important it is to provide the equivalent of half sun or brighter.
