A golden variety of Hinoki
This is my favorite spot to work on my trees weather permitting.
I can go up and down stairs to get at different heights on my trees making it ergonomic for my back
and using either side of the stairs, keep my back to the Sun getting better light on the subject.

You’re just now getting snow?
Higher elevations here got up to an inch this weekend, 4000’ and higher.
This is the only snow that stuck to the ground for longer than an hour.. the ground “down here” is warmer. :) ...It’s been tryin’D21F1A4D-7D64-4989-B31D-DBB7891C7CAF.jpeg1EF1EBB2-2D49-40DE-805F-74A9807F0CE5.jpeg32CB00A5-C5A4-4492-BCA1-7BE428CD1326.jpeg587D3C84-F990-437B-85C9-A5BED34AB409.jpeg9C1C68BB-6582-4BFB-A6ED-3E2738A6EDCE.jpeg
It’s still coming down too!

Free Mulch!

That's awesome, using their imaginations. Much better than glued to the TV or other electronics.
Well they do plenty of that, too. LoL
Only a few blocks from the city library now days, and the older two appreciate that. And right up close to some decent trails for outings as well. They get a fair mix I think.

The only palmatum I have in the ground, one of the last to change colours and shed its leaves :

Acer discolor (it seems the accepted name is now Acer aff. paxii). This year, they displayed a rather uniform pink colour, they were more "variegated" in the previous years. :

2015,-16,-19 and this year. I think a repot in a more acidic mix should do them good, my water is very hard :

Anyway, maple lovers, if you can get one, buy it ! The colours are always stunning. A friend that hadn't visited my jungle for some time came last week and said "Wow ! This pink colour, that's fantastic !" :) (I love to impress my friends 😄)

Huh huh... The grammar, the logic is so different.

I can remember this interview from a local in Germany :

Angst habe ich ja.
Oui j'ai peur.
Yes I'm afraid.

Spanish (?) Sí, tengo miedo.
Italian (?) Sì ho paura.

I've started learning Italian at the "Université du temps libre" (politically correct for "courses for old bags"). Much easier for us French speakers, fewer "gutural" phonems, and Italian is such a beautiful, musical language. The language of easy life, love and pasta 😍

Luckily, it seems there’s a lot of “just replace the English word for the Spanish word” as sentence structure is (mostly) the same

There are some obvious differences with reversing how things are described (Spanish is “a shirt red”) or the order of “fish sandwich” (sandwich of fish), but otherwise fairly easy I’m finding. Slightly easier than English as many times the verb conjugation in context tells you who the subject is, so dropping “I” or “you” is fine (a concept I first heard with Japanese, but just couldn’t quite understand how that worked until now)

That's because English is a kind of hybrid language betwen Germanic languages and Romanese languages.

There is no problem of gender nouns in English, the conjugations are also much easier than in French Spanish or Italian. But with all the cases in German or slavic languages (masculine, feminine, neutral, animated, non animated, and all the exceptions, it's a real maze).

I remember a fellow-teacher who taught Spanish telling us, laughing, what his pupils would regularly tell him "sono imbarrassado/a" when they meant "I'm embarrassed". (je suis gêné(e), je suis embarassé(e)) ...
