Yesterday I went to visit my grandad, who gave the the tree seed kit I started with. He mentioned finding a few trees growing on his plot/allotment, so today I went down and dug them up!
They’re in compost from his plot, feels quite dense, especially compared to the soil they where in when I got there, but it was there and my dad potted them in it. Will see how they fare. No idea what I’m doing, it was my dad that said we’d go and dig them up (I suppose we do love a supportive parent haha) he did most of the work.
First up, a horse chestnut, found near the rhubarb and roses. Its the one one the right.

Next, another, found in the onions, this one was rooted really deep! Took a good bit of work to get it out.

And finally, a sycamore, obviously been growing a lot longer. This also took a while to get out - look at those long roots!

Here they are potted up. Had to chop down some of those long roots on the sycamorw to get it to fit in, so its planted far to the side which is… something. that long-rooted horse chestnut I think is maybe planted too tall? Possibly should have chopped that down? I have no idea. It wasn’t sticking out the ground much so its mostly root?

So I guess I now just have to keep them in shade till they recover? I’ll admit I am anxious, no idea what I’m doing, if they’ll live, the compost as I said feels dense, worried it will turn muddy too easily, suffocate the roots?? No idea how old they are (mostly that sycamore).
