I just recently pruned my dwarf jade and took some of the cuttings to propagate. I left them alittle under a week to callus. I potted them in bonsai soil( pumice, lava rock, bark, etc). In order to grow roots is that sufficient or should I be potting them in more of a succulent potting soil mix?

That should be fine. I've seen them root in leaf litter. The key is not to over water. Put them somewhere shady and water only once a week or so. The cuttings I've neglected have done far better than the cuttings I've pampered, in any growing medium.
