Hello everyone and especially the people that are like Quercus Robur!

For a very long time I was looking for a good quality oak only it’s a very difficult to find a good quality in this spices.
The tree was already for some years in training so he did a very well job.

When I bought this tree i had my doubts but a good friend, also my teacher convinced me and saw the potential of this oak
So we give it a chance to make a natural feel old oak.

So we repotted the tree in a big container because branches have to become thicker and wounds need to overgrown.
So we need a lot of growing.

So after some slow growth in spring the tree started to grow bigger leaves and more powerful.
Some leaves where reduced to get some light inside the tree
Overgrown wounds and the trunk thickness also where visible.

After selecting branches.
My friend decided we will use now wiring in this tree, only cut and grow so the tree will give a more natural feeling over time.

In the winter that winter i treaded the big wound in the top with some wood hardened product so the tree gets a better chance to overgrown the big cut.

In spring2018
I thought I was a smart guy, against the advice on my teacher I did some grafting.

That year was a combination of letting some selected branches growing free so typical heavy branches like an old oak can form and trying to keep the finer ramification, that was a difficult balance that

In 2019 the tree was very powerful, so the reaction after pruning several times that year was very strong

Fall 2019
My wife was so removed all the leaves
After visiting my teacher for doing the pruning work this is the result.
I love the branch structure that starts to become at this point.

Spring 2020

Time for repotting and reduce the rootball.
I had a pot that maybe fits for the tree but because we where not convinced I made also a small container.

So for the rest of the season the growth was healthy but very weak.
I also removed the graft because it didn’t react anymore after cutting back.
Better lessened my teacher ....🥴
