A couple weeks later than ideal according to Vance's guide, but still within the window. May have pruned more than recommended though... 
Don't love the tree, so I won't be heartbroken if it shits the bed as they say.

I don't think he had a book, just shared his knowledge here and minimally on YouTube while he was still with us.
