my guess would also be eastern white cedar, Thuja occidentalis.
your potting mix is not ideal, if it were less than a week ago I would repot into a sifted mix, pine bark and pumice, or a mix of other aggregates, but only if you can sift it to get rid of fines.
If it has been more than a week since collection, I would just leave them alone for a year or two. Then move them to better soil. It may take a couple years for them to get growing vigorously. Don't worry about ''styling'' then until after you have had a full year of vigorous growth.
