SCOTS pine "new shoots" question.

I stuck a big rock behind it that I can PIC tomorrow.
Looks less "backy-uppy" and I also better do a top view so you can see how long that suggested branch chop is and how much foliage depends on it.
At least.....now.

You guys were right. Just had to sleep on it and gather the energy.
This tree/pot is HEAVY.

Oh well. It looks better now. Didn't even have to remove a limb. :)Scotty.jpg

Now, just detail wire it out!
As soon as the main tethers take.
Probably another couple months.
I slipped a wire yesterday and it was a BIG one holding down a large branch and it was....almost.... ready to be removed.

Mud... Do yourself a favor and invest in copper wire.

Pine trees will pretty much always have wire on them.

It's a fallacy to try to wire out the big branches until they "take", then start on the smaller ones. The big branches will need to have wire on them for several years until they have enough new layers of wood to hold their desired positions.

Wiring it all out will expose all the branches close to the trunk to the sun, enhancing the opportunity for backbudding.

Wire it out, to the tips.

I'm out of 1 mm wire right now.
Gotta go get some.

Then get copper instead.

For doing the small twigs on pines, the smallest size I use on JBP is 16 Gauge. For JWP, usually the smallest I use is 18. Very occasionally, I'll use 20.

18 gauge copper is great for guy wires.
