Sharpes pygmy maple

I went ahead and repotted this one. I will be keeping it as a pet. Note to Mr @Maloghurst ...it still shits on the carpet, so I will be keeping it chained outside the trailer. Just kidding of course, I appreciate everyone's input. With regard to ramification on this tree...I am assuming standard stuff, let it extend 4 or 5 nodes then cut back to one or two?

It's in a yamaaki pot. I tried to stick with the formula of pot size=2/3 height of tree, pot depth approximate width of trunk, a bit off center in oval pot, etc. I know it is potted a bit high...mounded up. This is because It was fairly root bound, and I had to hit it pretty hard with a root rake/hook and scissors to get it to fit. Next spring I Will reduce the roots further.

On another note....I bought another one nearly identical. They had a 20% off sale last week and got another one. It is a wee bit smaller, and I don't like the graft. It is my project, and I will be following the advice that has been given. I will post pics and seeking advice. Everyone has been very generous with advice so far, and I will have many more questions with regards to guidance on my project.

It's in a mix of 75% Akadama and 25% Aoki. Topped with sphagnum.

So here is the project tree on June 10.

All branches cut back to the very first bifurcation. Done over a period of 3 weeks. Left approximately 1 inch stubs. Sealed all stubs with orange liquid cut paste. (top jin brand) Growth sprouted within a matter of days after each cutback at the correct places.PWSrp5aERhmvRZBywkn6Qg.jpg Sorry I didn't take pictures at the cutback time.

I've done nothing since except to fertilize heavily and encourage growth. I haven't even tried to do any wiring or shoot selection. I am assuming to do shoot selection and some structural wiring in the fall.
