Shohin Barberry Progression

Hello Nuts,

I haven't gotten to post a progression on this barberry yet on the forum, but I have had it since 2020.

At the time I got the tree, I liked the long trunk it had but over time I decided it was better suited as a shohin.

Last season I put on a board to improve the poor nebari. I also filled the pot with a mix heavy in finer akadama.

Yes, that is exactly the plan! I am growing that branch as a sacrifice until I get the taper I like.

It's looking good! It just needs a little vinegar to kill the algae at the base.


Bummed to see that the chop didn't start rolling yet, but I am going to give it some more time and see what happens.

To my knowledge, barberry are a little slow to heal. It'll happen though!!
