One of the maples in my garden I cut back hard when it was still pretty cold in March, but it decided to explode and make a dense mop of foliage.

Others are native Maryland (weeds) maples that pop up in my yard more frequently than new grass! These are survivors from last year i potted up, were nibbled by our local deer, but re-emerged this year. Not sure on an ID if anybody knows. 🤔 🍁

Acer Palmatum ‘Murasaki Kiyohime

I ordered this tree from Mr Maple back in early January of this year so, I had no idea of the dazzling color display that awaited me (other than the idyllic photos you glean from the internet). I am pleasantly surprised!

P.S. Sorry, about the stained fingers. I was removing the flesh from olives in preparation for a propagation attempt.

That is one of my favorite cultivars.

Wow. Yours look nothing like mine...
Are you getting much more green? I've heard that many folks have trouble getting white to show on this cultivar. My climate is really good for spring maple colors, and that may be most of the battle, but I know from experience that Ukigumo also likes shade for best colors. The one I pictured is planted in the ground against an east-facing house wall and near large evergreens. It gets no direct sun all year.

Another data point is that when they sell Ukigumo in the nurseries around there, they always leaf out pure green. I don't know the reason, but I've heard it may be due to heavy fertilization by the growers, and changes to normal temperature cycling caused by growing, or at least overwintering, in greenhouses.

Mikawa Yatsabusa recently dug and root worked. A little mulch would make it pop. Love the structure on this one.
Does your Wilsons Pink Dwarf produce any flowers/ seeds?

I love Ikandi in the spring. The leaves tend to curl inward on mine, like the other higasayama varieties. But yours aren't doing that. I wonder why. I'd prefer if mine didn't curl. I'll try to grab a photo of mine today.
