SI have decided to go back into bonsaiNut seclusion.ee ya guys.

It is sad to see people with knowledge leave the forum. As such, it is sad to see you leave. That being said..

It is sad to see people leave the forum and making a big poeha out of it.

If you do not like it here, leave. But do not try to guild-shame people on the forum in the process. Stop busting everyone's chops.
Didn't you hear?
As soon as (you are over 30, and) you plan on leaving a social medium but also plan on returning, you have to do a little swan song. A final letter to the world, telling what's wrong with the platform and imply how much better you are than the people who stay.

It's so common, that even South Park got the memo.

Good fortune to Al. I wish him all the best.
And welcome back Al! Because nobody leaves without checking the responses afterwards, honestly, it's like reading your own obituary and everybody would love to know what people would have to say. No shame in that, I did it too a couple times. Humans, right?! How predictable are they?!

That, and you're not really gone until your account is deleted entirely, that would mean one is serious about it. All those aliases too, by the way.

I have decided to go back into bonsaiNut seclusion. This is not a place I wish to post work to any longer, and in fact if it was in my power I would remove everything I have ever posted here. The forum is not capable of removing the person from the work, and the truth hurts people, I can understand. If you are unable to take a look at your self from my perspective and take the things I post with the intent written, I get it. This place is supposed to be about bonsai, bonsai work, not words or help me or what can I make from this. Look around, there are plenty of places to see bonsai, look at your plant, does it have the bones to make a bonsai, then throw it away when you actually see the difference. Stop busting everyone's chops with the pathetic dieing plants. Anyway I've already said too much, feelings are being hurt as I write....the truth....again!

Maybe I will see you at a show, I'll say hi.
Smoke
Honestly, I am sorry to see you go.

imply how much better you are than the people who stay.
I don't just sit around and allow people to say this kind of shit behind my back. You just can't let a guy go in peace, you gotta smear his character more. Your a poor excuse for a human with intelligence which I use gently.
Not implied, fact. You post your best five and I'll post my best five and let the forum decide who would have the better information to share. The correct information. The information that could actually help someone make a better tree by showing that they know what their talking about.

You won't do it, cause you have nothing to share. When actually pinned down to presenting your work and showing that, as a reason for any one to listen to you, you fail and have no credibility as an artist. Now if you wish to talk like a guy that knows nothing and be honest I have no problem, but if you wish to spout off about how to do it with out actually having anything worthy, your just another guy TRYING to do this art we call bonsai. Simple as that.

There is no discussion needed because it's true and you know it and THAT, is what pisses people off.

Post them five and we can talk.

BTW, the 1/8" 1/4" is in my signature. Been there since Monday. For all you Ryan readers out there...just want to let you know your comprehension is not very good.

That tip I just shared about 1/8 1/4 is extremely important. Many may wonder why. Ask me and I can tell you. It's not in Ryan's video. It is universal, has been since the fifties.

Humans, right?! How predictable are they?!
I always knew there were aliens on this forum.

Another point to consider- think about how disrespectful it is to Greg, who donates his personal time and money into running this platform for all of us, to complain and gripe. Several here seem to think they can do it better- I say they go for it. I will however be forever grateful for Greg and the masterpiece contributors who donate their time and expertise to help strangers on the internet.

I cant stop myself from reading this thread.

It's like using too much shaving cream. I hate getting too much shaving cream.

Shoot some in your hand and it's just too much. You say to yourself, "Next time not so much."

Well, next time it's still too much. Or maybe not enough... So you use a little more then it is too much. It feels like a waste.

Considering the cost of a can, the amount used and wasted, how often the need to shave, etc., the cost and lost is so little. But still.

I quit shaving years ago.

Now, it's just beard problems.

You know...I think my works not done here.. There are hundreds of posts daily that need the truth set to them.. I will make it my job to see that the truth is practiced here. Many won't like it, and the message will become clear that if you don't have a clue what your taking about, then maybe you shouldn't be sharing bogus information. You think I'm an asshole...wait.

When I choose not to be active, the forum looses *my* knowledge and experience. There's no google search that posts what I choose not to share. Just because I choose not to share does not mean I am knowledgeless.

What? If you choose not to share, then what do we lose if you aren't active? That seriously makes no freaking sense.

He's just a cry baby and a wannabe. I don't have time for jerks like that. He should tell it to someone who cares.

@Smoke welcome back for the second time this month! How about we drop this thread and discuss trees? I know you have some progress pics somewhere we can all learn from.
Why do I have to post pics? Why can't all the loud mouths post pics of all these high quality trees. I would love to have something to look at for a change and I know there would be plenty to say about them. It would be all good from me. I don't wish to disparage peoples work, I wish to give my ideas on how to improve it. If you don't wish to use or take my ideas, then a simple "I've looked it over and I'm gonna pass on that Smoke", then I will ask why? Why would someone pass, probably because they don't have the chops to do the work. If they wish to convey those sentiments then the discussion for me is over. I've heard why, You just don't do it cause you don't have the chops to do the work necessary to get the tree to a better place. many here suffer from that. I have no idea why it is so hard to just admit that and make me go away.

I'll be waiting for a good thread on a Pitoon tree. The good news, you won't have to hear my sorry ass, because I'll be waiting a long time.

I'm all ears.

Cosmetic Surgery for Ears
photo of mature man smiling

If your ears protrude or are misshapen, or if your child has misshapen or protruding ears, cosmetic surgery may be an option.
The surgery, which doctors call otoplasty, is most commonly done on children ages 4 to 14. It’s never too late, though, to make a change, and adults do undergo this surgery. Otoplasty can correct ear conditions such as protruding ears, abnormally large ear lobes, lop ear (in which the tip folds down and trends forward), and shell ear -- a condition in which certain features of a normal ear are missing.
Deciding on Ear Surgery
The first step is to consult a surgeon. At the first meeting, tell the surgeon about your goals as well as your medical history. Ask about risks, benefits, costs, recovery, and whether your expectations for the results are realistic.
You also need to talk to your health insurance company. That way you can find out before the surgery what, if anything, your insurance will cover.
Most health insurance companies only cover ear reshaping surgery if it will solve a functional problem. For instance, you might have it to correct a hearing impairment. Your insurance also may provide coverage if an otoplasty is done to correct a deformity or congenital abnormality. But if it's being done for cosmetic reasons only, it may not be covered at all. In that case, ask your doctor for full details about the costs and payment options.
How Cosmetic Ear Surgery Is Done
There are several ways the ear can be reshaped. One involves cutting out the cartilage, which is the main structural component of the ear. Another involves folding and stitching the cartilage instead of cutting it away.
In either case, your surgeon will begin by making a small cut at the back of your ear. This will allow access to the cartilage for the necessary procedure. After the surgery is complete, the surgeon will close the cuts with stitches.

I couldn't resist. Give me a minute to prepare this post .

Here we go again! Welcome back Al. Good to have you on board again. ☺
I'm starting to think we share a lot of personality traits - I know, you disagree, I would too if you'd say it. I think we'd get along like a snake and a badger in real life.
If I wanted to do stuff behind your back, I would've made a fake account or something bananaman-like.

If you are unable to take a look at your self from my perspective and take the things I post with the intent written, I get it.
Right back at ya. When I say shit like this, I mean it. It's not some kind of special gift or something, I know when I step on toes and I choose to do so here. The result is exactly what I expected - see we share a lot of traits? That introspection is the trait we differ in, I guess. And that's alright too man, I don't mind you being snappy. I just get snappy too sometimes. You don't have to understand, just don't say that you do. Or at least not publicly, since, you know, inconsistencies. People read that stuff.

My offer to design a tree together and help me learn about design choices still stands. But then again, I'm no artist, I'm just a guy trying, and not trying really hard or anything. You shouldn't meddle with the plebs like us, it might rub off on you and ruin the fragile patina. I never made it a secret to you or anyone else what my MO is, it's in my signature that's been repeated at least 2500 times.
Those authority arguments don't work on me. They never have. I've been around artists, economists and scientists my whole life. It means nothing to me that someone has sold more, published more or won more awards. My life and hobbies aren't a dick measuring contest. You slapping yours repeatedly all over my hobby doesn't make it a contest. I'm simply not competing, I'm just having fun playing with my own even if it's tiny and underdeveloped.
I'll continue as I do and if you'd like, you can always chime in for some of that solid advice of yours or just to regurgitate what I already know. The latter really isn't helping, we've been doing that for 3 years now. I'm fine with either, neither or both. I'll leave the choice up to you.

I do however take it as a compliment, that an insignificunt (yes, I wrote that) poor excuse of a human being can draw you out of your seclusion. You mean a lot to me too and your words weigh heavy, I'll admit that. I mean it when I say that I would love to have some Al influence in my poor excuse for sticks in pots. My oh-so limited brain stores stuff like that you bought your first tree on your honeymoon. Some kind of (Japanese white?) pine that I could probably draw from memory based on that single washed out picture, and it was the start of something great like running (chairman, correct?) the CBS. How cool would it be, that in 44 years when I retire, I can tell my kids or grandkids that some dude from California helped me design it? Between the two of us, the pink thongs don't have to be mentioned.

I know, you're on edge now and trying to pick some lines to respond to in anger. To say something to really blow me off my socks and make me shut up and leave the forum for ever. That's what I'd do. It's one of the reasons why I say we share some traits. It's true, and it pisses you off because you feel like we're not alike at all, whatsoever. I can recommend you shake it off before you go to sleep. It's not worth it. You're better than that.

Have a nice day Al! And again, glad to have you back!

@Smoke why did you have to write this? Have I ever attacked or talked negatively to you? I was actually forward to see a thread about trees.....but it seems like you think everyone is out trying to get you. Posts like you just wrote to me is why people can't get along with you. It's not about critiques on trees.....it's your replies that gets to people.

But that's fine, you prove yourself with every post you make what kind of a person you are. I wonder if you were like this with your wife?

Life is short, you should enjoy it. And since you think I'm out to get you too, this will be my last reply to you.

Thanks! Your absolutely right. We should all do what we are best at. It seems that for you it's talk. For me it's making trees. When you wish to change your major let me know.

More for you to look at and decide if your worthy to even talk in the same circle.
