Small Shimpaku styling

Last year at the Carolina Bonsai expo, my wife snuck off and came back with this little Juniper. I told her what we should do is put it in one of the palm baskets and let it grow, she said “or put it in a little pot and sit it next to my chair on the patio”. Her tree, she wins. But the tree is very two dimensional as you can see in the photos. I would like to style it up some..give it a nice look maybe literati? Any and all advice is thoroughly appreciated. Thanks

I think you have the makings for a decent literati. I would go from your last photo and remove that bottom left, long straight branch and adjust the potted angle to make it more upright. It would need a new pot eventually, and more long straight branches coming off over time as it recovers.

Most of my trees do. I have an unheated greenhouse for some. Everything's protected from wind as well. Right now all my junipers get full sun damn near sun up to sun down.

If this twist is real...which it looks to be..that's your feature.
I'd put it like this to get movement right out of the soil...and display that twist.

Something up here has to go...too thick.
