I'm sad Kevin Shen passed away, he seemed really nice!

This whole "contest" has to be the worst organized event in the history of small, obscure and illogical events. First they seem to have the capacity to market this thing all over the bonsai net, then they (he) doesn't even have the curtesy to give the slightest hint about it on his own blog. I don't know about you guys but I've spent somewhere around 25-30 hours on this thing. I don't really care about the technical details, just post a list of the winners, cough up the dough as promised and deal with your own issues later.

I just think it's strange that a well known bonsai enthusiast is willing to put his name on the line for a stupid thing like this. If I'm a winner I'd be thankful just to know, and very understanding regarding the cash prize given the unfortunate circumstances. What pisses me off is that they refuse to tell despite the fact that the winner and runner ups have been decided, and won't even answer when asked directly.

Since you're being so polite and all I'll tell you. The blue is the earth and the green is a leaf. It's just something different that the usual recycling symbol with the earth and green arrows around it.

edit: Sorry I forgot, the tree is imaginary.
 
I received an email from Min Hsuan Lo last night with the explanation that the webmaster was sick for a while and eventually passed away last week. Lo stated that they were currently replacing the webmaster and will announce the winners as soon as possible.

He thanked everyone for all the entries and for our continued patience and understanding.

I got a reply to my last email today.. Cindy Huang Secretary said:
"Mr. Kevin died in head bleeding accident. The committee told me it has complicated to open a check. The President Chen is looking for the new webmaster."

So I guess they can't mail a check.. I think that's what she meant.. I asked if they could use PayPal then.
 
The gentleman died of a stroke and you people are worried about the timeliness of the contest and the arrival of your check? How do even look yourself in the eye when you come up to a mirror?

I second that! If the individual that was responsible for the financial end of it passes away, then the accounts are in escrow until they are freed up, if the accounts are/were in his name. Chill out!

I paid my respects to Mr. Kevin.. You guys need to calm down with your righteousness.. They could have saved all who submitted logos a lot of frustration with 1 simple email explaining the situation. Instead of bits and pieces here and there. You'd be frustrated too. Will let us know when you're back on this side of the fence.. Thanks
