I was hiking once and a psycho squirrel ran down a tree at me so I freaked and started to run and it continued to chase me until I started screaming. Lol I told the guy walking toward me with his dog to be cautious of the squirrel and he believed me and turned around lol!

As a child I remember a squirrel in a nearby tree we called Fred... Fred would scream profanities at us any time he saw us, and If we dared walk under the massive pine that peaked over the back corner of the yard without our huskies... Well Fred would chuck pinecones at us...

I was convinced someone trained him to do this... This didn't seem like normal squirrel activity but living on a military base... I wouldn't be surprised to find out he was some lunatics pet at some point

Squirrels rarely transmit rabies but it can happen. Out here we're more concerned with plague from their fleas, particularly ground squirrels.

Skunks and higs don't surprise me. Growing up in Texas, we were also warned about armadillos (aka Texas speed bumps). As @BrianBay9 stated, squirrels rarely transmit rabies, as they are so small and soft that almost any bite from another rabid animal will kill it before it can contract the disease. Be careful out there, especially on a farm.

Had to laugh, this street in Lucas Valley is only one block over from where I grew up. Back then, with a new housing development, the squirrels were not yet emboldened...

Timely post. I just finished sprinkling some squirrel deterrent. We'll see how it works but it stinks so bad its repelling me. Currently under an invasion over here and they are populating.
