Squirrels

Doesn't your dog chase the squirrels?

You could tie the pots to the bench with string to prevent them from being turned over.

Put even better food on the other side of the house so they will be attracted away from the bonsai.

I use s pellet gun. They literally run away when they see me in the nursery. They're just rats in fur coats.

We don't have squirrels down here in Chile... it's funny because I love seeing squirrels when I travel to north america XD
<3 squirrels!

I am quite adept at shooting squirrels with a BB pistol. Its a C02 gun and puts a nasty hole in them. It also puts nice holes in your trees, breaks windows and occasionally bounces back and hits me in the face or neck. Its better then dealing with those friggin' rat/beavers. They will chew your trees bark, dig them up for some reason. BTW mothballs do not work, at least for me. Neither does dozens of mouse traps set around the pots, I thought the little bastards would get injured setting them off but they avoid them.

i have a bunch of red squirrels around my house they leave the trees alone and gang up on any grey squirrels that come around, the walnut trees in the yard are a squirrel battleground

I've got two words for you: ELECTRIFIED CHICKEN-WIRE! Short of that, the only thing I've found that works is Cayenne pepper. However, it has to be re-applied after every rain.

Oddly I have a lot of them here at the new location but the show little or no interest in my plants. They do however find it necessary to plant seeds in my pots. I was out front smoking a cigarillo a few days ago and one came within a few feet and watched me 3 times that day. The last time I went out there it had left me a large acorn on the step where I was standing and my Wife commented that I should work on NOT allowing small animals following me home  The only damage we had at the old place was at night and was Rabbits not Squirrels. I tossed around a few pounds of clover seed on the lawn there and the problem was solved.

What does clover do to rabbits? I need to get rid of some.

Makes them fat and then they either die from a heart attack or the neighbors dog catches them because they can't run.
Not really. The clover is much tastier than the trees so they would rather eat that.
I just shoot them.

As Mike said it is a preferred food for Rabbits and clover mixed in the lawn is barely noticed. Squirrels really respect paint ball guns once they take a hit/flip and are much quieter in Suburban/City situations.
