The 2023 to 2026 little Christmas tree competition

Yes, like you said, one would be styled decorated like a mini Christmas tree. The other would be nonconventional.

I was thinking the exact same thing today!

Was getting around to proposing that myself!

🤣 sorry I missed this.

I love it.

+ I would also note that all types, shapes, & style of trees can be decorated with Christmas garb and enter that category.

I.e. If you want to enter a literati style with some decorations, go for it!
I think it’s worth waiting to see how many people take the same approach as myself and design a traditional Christmas tree. If we see a bunch in the threads next year, I think it’s worth having another category, but so far I haven’t seen others try it.

Some potential inspiration for Mirai Live subscribers. Taft is such a cute kid, I really love getting to see interactions between Ryan and him.

Maybe we should invite Ryan to compete?

I may be being particularly stupid, but I can't find a main "folder" for Christmas tree entries (2023-2026)...do we just post directly into the contests forum?

No not stupid. I need to get @Bonsai Nut
To help me out in figuring how to create the sub folder in the contest forum. 😊
For now, yes, please put directly in contest forum. Thanks

This is my latest find at the Home Depot.

The smaller 4 gallon ones were gone (what I initially came back for) but they still had the 6 1/2 gallon baby blue spruce for Half off.

I didn’t want to be spending $60, but what can I say, I’m a slave to my addiction.

I won’t be entering this in the competition as I want to go a little slower with this one. I may even put it in the ground 😊.

Currently, the burlapped rootball is all frozen solid. I won’t be doing anything to the tree besides cleaning out dead material till spring.

Happy new year! And merry wishes.

Robust and full! Superb

I looked one more time and nothing to be had around here.

Missed the boat on the Italian stone pines. They went fast this year.
Thought I'd found one, but when I got it in the car I realized it was spruce of some sort.🤦 Returned it.
I want something I can actually bring inside and use as a Christmas tree.

Sorry to hear that. I was excited to find a stone pine this year as well, but didn’t see a single one.
In the past, I’ve seen them at target, Trader Joe’s, and Aldi!
None to be had this year.

Yeah, this was the first time I've seen them around here in two years, only they were at Walmart last time. These were good ones at a great price too, but I couldn't justify a selfish purchase on my tight budget during the holidays.
I looked online today thinking maybe I'd order one when the money is there, even if I can't use it for this contest, but even there the pickings are slim.

Holiday stone pines (1-gallon pots) are a common find at HD stores in my area. Christmas 2022 they were going for $7.50 locally, took a couple and planted them as landscape trees. Fast forward one year, same store had plenty of stone pines in stock on 1/3/24. Garden employee said the store had them on clearance after Christmas, then raised the price back up to $30 on trees that did not sell… drying up, browned, but what the heck, it’s a new year!

I think you nee to rotate it more often. Maybe get a turntable for it,
Yes. 🤣
Rightside of the trunk is facing south and the north side of it is pretty weak.

This tree is dead center on the property line.

I asked my neighbor, ā€œwhy is it that the tree looks so bad on your side of the yard?ā€ 🤣🤣

@Eckhoffw are forest plantings allowed? I've picked up 3 small DAS to work with. If yes I may try a forest planting, if no I'll just pick the best of the bunch.
