The 2026 Seven-year Shimpaku Juniper contest

I'm interested. I have some 1 year old cuttings already. Just to clarify, do the trees need to be verified shimpaku variety of Juniper Chineses or are other variants acceptable. Honestly, not sure what I have but it does resemble Chinese Juniper.

No need to verify varieties. No need to get into those weeds.
I just would like it to be as close of a competition s possible.
So if it looks kinda like a shimpaku, grows kinda like a shimpaku it will work for the competition.

Final determination might be on your initial contest post where you submit photos of your starters.

would it be considered cheating if i use these cuttings that I wired up a few weeks ago? I'd love to be able to use these if possible - just slightly under pencil-sized thickness.

you can only submit upright trees for this contest.

Great to hear it. I am sort of in the same camp. I post a little, but have been wanting to post more. This should provide a nice chance for that
