The Google Sidebar...

[Bonsai Nut]

On the front page of the site we run an advertising banner with Google content. Initially Google allowed us to very specifically target the content in the banner (so it only displayed content related to bonsai). Recently, however, Google has changed its rules so that it displays more broad content, based on what Google determines to be content that you are interested in (bonsai or not).

I have seen a lot of strange ads pop up in that banner recently (based on my own personal history with Google). Everything from aluminum siding to vacations in Mexico. The ads do not feel at all targeted or relevant to me, and it is starting to annoy me. I was curious what other people are seeing, and how you are responding to it?

I have seen the ads, but I wouldn't say they annoy me. I just ignore them to the best of my ability. Now, if a good bonsai related ad pops up it usually catches my attention 100%

Honestly I didn't notice it, I stay logged in so when I get to the front page, I hit new posts and go from there. No harm no foul here, do what you feel is best.

Never notices.....the link I use always take me to new post.....just went and looked it's Mallsai ads so I guess I visit tomany bonsai sites.....LOL

I generally ignor those things that don't interest me, even if they are bonsai related. If we start getting pop ups in the middle of a post-------?
