The AoB / KoB ARTICLE CONTEST

The contest objective is for participants to write an original article about bonsai in a professional and educational manner. The goal of this contest is educational and is meant to bring out the author in all who participate, as well as to encourage the creation of much needed articles for the bonsai community not only during the contest, but indeed after the contest as well. It is our hope that the participants of this contest will continue to write and publish articles afterward and in doing so, add to the knowledge base.

The American Bonsai Society Journal has graisously agreed to consider publication for all winning entries as well as for other quality articles submitted.

The judges so far are:

Bob King, editor of the American Bonsai Society Journal.

Martin Schmalenberg, editor of the ABS North American Bonsai Book.


The third judge will be announced shortly.

Pat Lucke Morris, former professional editor and current Secretary of the American Bonsai Society, has agreed to be the third and final judge in this contest.

We have had six entries to date and there is still two months left before the deadline is reached.

The deadline has been reached, no other submissions will be accepted.

We have received 14 excellent entries, which will be turned over to the judges. The winners will be announced as soon as we know the results. Thanks for participating and good luck to all!

The results of the 2008 AoB / KoB Article Contest have been posted at http://artofbonsai.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=14443#14443

We have worked on most of the entries over the last few months, acquiring permission to use added photographs and text. The "edited" versions will be posted over the next few days for discussion.
