You have to be careful with cat litter, that Bonsai4me link is pretty well updated apparently.....if it's not in there, don't use it! IMO.

What you use will Probly be dependant on when you can water....

Once a day watering is a good goal to shoot for....it'll take a little trial and error, with good observation.

If you find the right cat litter.....
80% that and 20% pine would be a good place to start....

Wintering grounds.....that's gotta be tough for you.

I am think the winter will be too hard for my trees and they will die before i can make any bonsai out for them. It takes 3-5 years and after that i can start to make my tree for bonsai.
I just must wait and see how does the trees to in winter. I hope i will find some good solution for them.
And i will go and look what kinde of cat litter i can find in here.

And what kind of sand i should use.
The % can be the same or i should change them?

30% akadama change to what ? cat litter
30% bark
40% sand

2. Deciduous
40 % akadama
30% bark
30% sand

3. Flowering
50% akadama
20% bark
30% sand

4. Pine
20% akadama
30% bark
50% sand

5. Juniper
20% akadama
20% bark
60% sand

I know it's a pain in the ass dude but your just asking the same things over aaaannd over ... go read the forums. Just go through it and take notes ... try different mix and see what works for you! That's all you can do. There a billion different ways to mix your mix.. good luck!

Edwin my man you got everything you need here, why are you making your life complicated.
Forget akadama, forget cat litter ( damn Cypress why did you mention it, we were god by then) and especially
forget sand.
Mix pellets,perlite.granite in whatever percentage and you are GOOD for everything,pines,junipers,elms.....
Throw in a handful of bark or soil if you don't have a time to water couple times a day in summer.
Seek no more my man,everything you need you got in front of you.

Any chance you could find some pumice where you are? I too think that you can make a mix with what you have on hand. I do think that pumice is a wonderful substrate if you can find it. It's light and has good retentive qualities.

I think Japanese bonsai nurseries make different mixes for conifers and deciduous to make it a little easier to water a ton of trees.

But for the home garden, at least in the beginning, using one mix will be easier.

Eventually, you can adjust it.
But in the beginning, the fewer variables you have, the easier it is to figure what is good for you.
