Hi all,

This is a small Ulmus minor that appeared randomly in the pot of another bonsai some years ago.

In 2020 I decided to put it on an empty cheap chinese pot that was around.

Last late winter I decided to do something with it and I started a little root over rock project:

A bit later this season it responded all good:

During the growing season I mostly it alone and just wired one strong shoot that appeared.

You inspire me to try this with one or two of my Chinese Elm root cuttings. They're probably at the right point to start working them. Although being root cuttings, I may have a bulky root to deal with in putting over a rock. Don't know but will find out! Looks like a great start on a beautiful tree.

Thanks!
I also tried that with a root I removed from a cork bark elm this year. It looked like it did not work but in the end it pushed and is doing good so far. It is just really small at the moment, around 1 or 2 inches.
