What is the one thing you most hate in bonsai (so far)?

For me, copper wire has to be the worst nightmare.
Specially if you use the wrong gauge, bigger than the branch needs.
Wire it in place. Hard as steel. By the middle of the branch, you are turning the branch around the damn thing, and not the other way around. Unwire. The bends stay there. Throw away. Start again.

There's no room for hate. My bonsai endeavour is all about trying not to.
But TBH, waiting for ramification. I'm growing all my trees from seed. Been going for 1.5 years now. So the first branching is just starting to form, it's a long haul. But worth it :)

Two seasons ago Marc Noelanders slapped me around a bit for bad wiring technique with copper. It has taken me two seasons of practice, but it is incredible what a difference good wiring makes. This is by no means perfect, but it is functional and visually appealing!

Practice...practice...practice...

To be honest, I wire quite well with aluminum, and as most of my bonsai are tropicals, that's the training I have.
I find the copper very hard and unforgiving when one makes a mistake.
I guess you're right; training, training, training.

Winter, 3C and rain here. Tree trunks turning green from algea growing EVERYWHERE. Can you tell?
I don't have the experience yet, but I guess sometimes it gets really frustrating.
Come for a quick visit, it's 30º C today!

2 weeks pre-departure quarantine to be allowed on the flight
2 weeks quarantine in Br (?)
2 week quarantine upon return

Almost worth it. It is the facemask during 12 hours of flight that is stopping me.

A friend of mine is preparing to to home in Rio for a 6 week stay or so.
Sigh.

Bad day at work today. Can you tell?

Is your wire proper properly annealed?
I have found massive differences. My old copper 1mm is harder than my new wire 4mm
It says in the package "annealed", but...
How do I know if it was properly annealed? Difficult to find, I have to buy it online, no place to anneal it myself.
So one has to trust the vendor.
Or not, it's black fraud, ooopps, black Friday anyway!

Thanks for the tip, could be that. It's way too hard to wire without pliers help. So something must be wrong here.

I know you know a potter..
I have consided bringing all my old wire to a friendly potter and asking to heat it up to annealing point, which can be found online.
