I just noticed white things under the leaves of my Trident Maple . What is this exactly and how do you solve the problem ?

Mealy bugs.

Smash 'em, remove 'em, squirt 'em with Safer's soap or neem oil. Or buy some ladybugs that will eat them up like a Krispy Kreme custard-filled insect doughnut.

I have some, but also a nice army of ladybugs showed up this year along with the mealys so its the circle of life on my plants
