What species used for bonsai are hard to kill by over watering?

I find it funny that any species that "doesn't like wet feet" (I hate that statement) are difficult species for many other reasons.

I conclude 90% of folks who think they killed these trees via overwatering are incorrect in their assessment of cause of death.

I agree whole heartedly, I don't like that mindset either.

To me, I picture it like sealing someone in a wooden crate and then filling it with water and saying they drowned to death. No... what really happened was you removed all the oxygen. **people can survive up to 3 days without water, but only 3 minutes without oxygen, food for thought.

I have a soil idea for a bald cypress...hear me out. I'm going to take a bunch of maxi pads and force them through the paper shredder and use the shreds as a soil. I saw a commercial where a lady poured a 2qt container of blue liquid on one and the liquid disappeared.

Marsh Pines
Guys, what are you think about Pond Pines?
Pinus Serotina. I grow actually some seed and I feel really happy about these small pines. They sprout really easily and seem a nice tree

Here, in the soil of my BC ;)

Even though it's not commonly used for bonsai due to its larger leaves and the vast number of other bonsai-friendly maples available, Acer rubrum tolerates damp conditions quite well. It's commonly known as the Red Maple or Swamp Maple and is hardy in USDA zones 3 through 9.

When Red Maple is used in bonsai though, it's typically a larger specimen so the big leaves don't look so disproportionate.

I believe that the Oxygen trees use in the roots is in water not air.

That is about the dumbest idea I’ve ever read.

Definitely use baby diapers instead.

In hurricane Katrina a woman lost her house and hundreds of roses. Her roses were under water for two weeks. One rose survived. People the world over tried to identify the rose but couldn't. It was in class known as old garden roses, many of which are taken from old cemetery cuttings. Peggy was an avid rosarian and when it couldn't be identified it was named the Peggy Miller rose. It grows in my garden. To survive for two weeks it had to be getting oxygen somehow, so that means it was from the water.
