I have found this olive branch next to my house with a beautiful bark and dead wood. I was wondering if it can be layered and if it is worth it to start with.

Looking at the leaves of this branch it doesn't seem very healthy

The #1 rule when collecting anything is to leave it if there's a good chance you might just kill it by attempting to collect it. That being said its hard to say by the pictures given as only you can say where the dead wood ends and the live wood begins.

With all the dead wood at best your roots will be one sided, if it's healthy enough to throw roots.
