I collected a few skinny, weal little spruce in spring of 2017 with the intention of developing them into bunjin trees. I left them at my parent’s cabin where they were collected, but most unfortunately were eaten by a moose (a very Canadian problem I know). This one made it and is now quite strong.

I plan to style it this fall. as we all know, it is not easy to pull off a convincing tree with this sort of material, so I’m looking for ideas for front/branch selection. Here are some views. Thanks in advance.62A5C27F-990B-4E1D-B257-10C9AE9E673F.jpeg41ED4BC8-7A0C-4C6C-8758-E9381985E0A7.jpegD30DD453-4014-4D76-BE16-BCF6A28F919B.jpegD5280567-6B2B-46F1-8E3E-4E4D9BBC202E.jpeg908921EE-8FEA-4DC8-9BE8-566491AC0F1C.jpegC1212143-2F9F-4ACF-95CB-9C09CEEF1565.jpeg
I have my own ideas, but what front/branches would you all use?

It’s difficult to make decisions like this based on pictures. Personally, I would try to take one of the thicker side branches and bend it up to increase taper and lengthen the interesting feminine line you have going on.

I see what you mean now looking at the pictures. It definitely looks a lot more congested and chaotic than it does in person. I appreciate your input.

I am considering using one major “drop branch” and building the rest of the crown from small but fast growing shoots near the apex. Something along these lines:CB26B401-983F-41F3-B250-F80D2F34E895.jpeg
I see several variations on this, I’ll perhaps noodle around with them a bit on the photos.

I am also considering a single branch and jinned top idea. It’s hard to show in pictures, but something like this but with more movement/less length in the branch:343F48DF-195F-475A-BDB4-5AE010214B6B.jpeg8442F650-62DB-4267-9536-C52D634EF0EC.jpeg
