I purchased this collected bald cypress from @Cajunrider. Potted it in an Anderson to let it sit for a few years (so this thread may be boring for a while!)

It looks rather healthy considering the distance it's traveled. Roots were still moist in the box when it arrivedved, bagged up.

I'm very pleased with the fit for this tree in a flat. Sadly I forgot to take pictures of the roots, but they were honking monsters, with no shortage of fine roots in between.
A few pieces of foliage were damaged in the shipping. Not very much, and I certainly don't say this to criticize the shipping job of our brother, but just to document this tree in it's thread.

I'll keep it on my shaded back deck for the next week or so, then consider a spot with morning light.

a few more pictures giving different angles. I'm not concerned with picking a front, but the last one was the best "off angle" front. interesting to see how much rotating it changes the options. I initially picked this one because it has a cool "superhero chest" look to it's graceful upright curve on one side, but I really like the strong buttressing on the first picture.
Looks great
all credit to our local Bald Cypress Boss.

any reason not to cut that broken branchlet? It's hanging towards the ground, but the foliage is still hanging on.

way ahead of you! I also cut the few woody. branches as they had not budded out at all. even if they had, I don't think they ever would've fit into an eventual design.

no pictures at the moment, but I have a number of budding growth along the many branches. also a handful of crinkly foliage, but for the most part looking very happy. I think this tree was potted just before the fall growing season, so the timing was good all things considered.

several low branches seem to have a bit of foliage that is turning orange from the tips in. one branch had progressed so far as to be crispy and a similar but darker color. I wonder if this is a water issue? could also be nutrients.

I have the tree in full sun, potted in an Anderson flat with normal potting soil with a bit of pumice.

What does the rest of the tree look like? I've got plenty of leaves like that on the lower branches on my trees.

Same here. Mines has brown outs and crispy dried on some interior leaves. All outer ones are nice healthy green and growing.

I also water twice a day and it gets morning to evening full sun, even on the hottest days.

Looks like fall color to me, likely induced by shipping. A lot,of yourmfoliage will often look like that by mid-summer. About that time I often defoliate and get a second flush of new growth for the late summer and fall.

The rest looks quite healthy, with the exception of one shoot that crisped up completely.

ya know, I somehow didn't even think that it could just be the foliage changing. Guess I forgot the reason I got the dang thing!

What's your weather been like recently? I've been getting overnight temps in the low 50s and my BCs are just starting to turn.

fall colors in full swing. i also had a handful of branches crisp up and die, which to my colorblind eyes were almost the same shade. on those tho, the twigs got stiff and flaky, while the orange leaves today are fleshy and no different than the green twigs.
