@IzzyG i like your security system, simple yet effective
That was from the previous owner actually(if you’re talking about the padlock rope). I probably should figure something out beyond just cameras and tracking devices. Kinda hoping the sheer weight of the trees would also slow down any would-be thieves 🤐

Anyone know why an Acacia would be yellowing inside? New foliage? Overwatering?

Put this bushy lil Hinoki in @penumbra pot. Thanks Rob:) Now stay outa my PPal act for a while!

Thinning out and some wire in the morning.
Great pairing. I just bought a similar fossil pot from @penumbra for a little Juniper birthday present from a friend that thought she was doing a good thing.

Alright folks, I just hit a bonsai milestone :) coming around to my first anniversary with this hobby and just finished my first ever spring repot! Material is Lonicera  tatarica 'Arnold Red'. Amazingly this is one of my shrubs I got for free from my work; I guess they arent as invasive in Denver as in the rest of the U.S. I spotted our landscape lilac pushing buds and decided to check under my tree blanket and sure enough I have several survivors. This fellow was pretty close to pushing leaves:20230320_143031.jpg
@Colorado assured me I could go for it if I can keep it from freezing, and I feel confident my setup can do that. Still this is *early* for Coloradans, and we're almost guaranteed to get freezes into late May. Heres the ball:20230320_171950.jpg
I know I took off a lot but you'll see from the light outside that I went nice and slow with this one. Either way I hear tatarica can take abuse. Found a super gnarly base and have a better idea of my front now...20230320_180943.jpg

And here we are all potted up. Ceramic for insulation, glaze cause its all I had that was just the right size. Kind of an ugly one but sturdy20230320_190635.jpg
And now we wait. Thank you all for giving me room to share my beginner's excitement with you and for the countless things I've learned here and there on the forum. Every month I feel a bit more competent!

I planted some clippings. I admired my little maple that's beginning its second year. And I studied my wife's little azalea that's about to explode.

Not exactly work from today sorry... (the shame) but the last couple of weeks have been busy as spring either starts (12 degrees c) or doesn't (-4c overnight). Early risers have started popping buds so fast repots needed, did a workshop and bought some new material too!

This little new almost-shohin was convenient for repotting practice at the workshop, even if the buds are not looking too lively yet.

This Katsura has been in the ground thickening, in a pond basket, bit of a b--ch to get out as it is getting tall and had put tons of root through the basket and was hanging on! Some flare developing. I screwed it to a plastic plate with holes drilled in it for a bit of low-grade Ebihara help. The Katsuras always seem to wake up earliest. No nice pot to show off, back in the hole!

Very late wire-out of Sabina Juniper (also in the Junipers forum) missed Autumn unfortunately...

Then I was really tempted by this new material, field grown Pinus Silvestris with bonsai in mind (you can see faint wire scars on some branches from training) brimming with health, its a southern europe variant so the needles look compact and not as leggy as some of our natives do. Few different styling options, hopefully nice work for this year. Yes please!

Initial branch selection and first styling on a semi-cascade Itoigawa that I purchased last year. I did most of the work on Saturday under my teacher's guidance and finished up the wiring last night:

I am excited about this one, it has great trunk movement and plenty of branches to choose from in the future:

Well I guess that didn't work out. 4 legged apprentice... Ugh what are you doing tomorrow thread?

Know where I can find a good pot? @penumbra pots don't last...
I have a @penumbra pot. I think they are great quality. He has a specific style I think looks great in a collection. I’ve seen much more “prestigious” pots break. Meaning expensive lol. Like shohin size $300 and up.

Oh My! I hate keyboarding. I was totally joking about his pots! They are great! My 3 month old puppy... not so much.1679441553376.png
