I've started to set my part of garden with japanese maples bonsai...It will still take a lot of time but the important was to start...

Uncle, It looks like you got more trees than when I was there 2 years ago. Time to come by and pick up a few off your hand....

I started my garden about two years ago by building (my version) of a Japanese tea house as the center piece. It is not technically pure Japanese, as many of you will probably recognize, but I was going for more of satisfying my esthetic vision. I wanted to get the tea house, the pond and waterfall more or less completed before my retirement (which came at the end of March - mission accomplished). There is still A LOT to do. The main construction left will be a meandering boardwalk form my house to the tea house with an arched bridge and wooden fence enclosure.

Love these gardens with lots of space for teahouses etcetc.

Our garden is a little smaller, and focussed on a variety of flowers, smells and vegetables and herbs.

We've been doing a lot of work on our yard every year since we bought the house, but I volunteered to be on a garden tour in July so we cranked up the number of projects.

This is what my bonsai bench looked like when I moved in 2021

We've added a lot over the last four years and finally bought a small lantern.

I built this bench in 2022 but now I wish I had built a shohin bench.

Added our third raised bed this year.


My partner made a Tori gate inspired arch last year.

The lawn is looking nice and green with the recent rain here in VA, so I took a few pics.

And the veggie garden that now resides where my trees used to. I rebuilt last year after my old benches got a little too rotten.
