HAVE YOU, wanted to try Cali-Dama?

FWIW?...what does that mean?

Otherwise what you say regarding the particle's sizes is referring to bonsaijack or the e-bay announcement?

fwiw = "For what it's worth"

I was referring to the ebay calidama. I thought some people might be interested in how large the box is (how much can fit in there) and particle size since I didn't see it mentioned anywhere ;).

Can anyone say how it holds up to frozen weather compared to akadama?

Unlike akadama, it will absolutly NOT BREAK DOWN.

I ordered my box and sifted it over the weekend. I like the way it looks and am excited to try it in the spring.

Have you done any testing with it? I would get it nice and wet and then put it through a number of freeze/thaw cycles to see how it holds up.

Still not akadama, but 100 times better than kitty litter or turface. I would say on par with haydite.

Then why not just buy haydite then? I get it in 50lb bags for $9. They sell it in my area at my local upscale chain nursery.

What nursery around here sells haydite? I'm always looking for soil components, and I'm gonna need a bunch this spring. Thanks.

Calloways. I sift it with my largest screen and probably get 90 percent back. I also buy huge bags of 100% composted pine bark there for about $9 bucks a bag. I use it for my organic in my mix. It's their brand of soil conditioner.

I have not had a chance to do any testing yet. I will have to try that this fall.

Anyone know where to get more calidama? The ebay seller doesn't have any, hopefully just temporary.

I got in touch with Glenn yesterday via email. I have another box coming my way. Didn't realize there was another thread regarding it @sorce, thanks.

Didn't think it was possible you get some!

Nice!

Hee Hee Sorce,

we now have an unlimited supply of crushed red or green Canadian granite, easy to sift to Bonsai size.
Do we want it ?
Or do we stay local.............
Good Day
Anthony

What's wrong with kitty litter? It even smells nice the first time :) (also it doesn't break down like akadama, if it even does.)
