Let's play make believe !

Pretend there were no word in the English language for bonsai. No word that means tiny tree in a pot, like the hundreds of years of bonsai history did not exist and someone just started putting trees in tiny pots today and had to come up with a name to call them. Now come up with your best make believe word to call these strange little trees we keep in pots.

My make believe word is Scimber (Sk-imber) a word melt of scant and timber.

Ready, GO!!!

Ha Ha good topic. The meaning from Japanese sums it up well.... "tree in pot/container". My guess is we would've called it pretty much close to that to. Maybe something like Potted trees or Container trees. Maybe Dwarf trees ;)

How about...
Tiny pot tree of aesthetic importance and of artistic expression with feeling of orientalism in form and structure.....

I feel like, in today's world, if there was no history behind bonsai, people would frown on the idea....mean to the trees....
Chinese foot binding comes to mind....now I know better than to honestly make that comparison, but people do still.
