All aboard the Mugo train!

... a little girl
... a small car

Why not a little tree? If a pine can be she...

At least in our language we have rules to prevent confusing situations like this!

Your language has no synonyms? That must be pretty boring.

I wrote that pretty quickly this morning and was not really paying attention. Normally, I would have substituted words like small, short, diminutive, petite, wee, mini, teeny, tiny, weeny, dinky or shrimpy just to give the sentence some more interest. But it's too late now...:)

There's only one activity that has over one hundred synonyms in our language. And it has nothing to do with growing bonsai......

This mugo i potted up after i dug it out a garden at work in februari 2017
It had verry little roots and because it was in sandy soil it was barerooted because after collection all the soil basicly fell off.

Couple parts died tough but still some healthy green parts

Its in need of backbudding will it ever become bonsai ish

The tree:

@Vance Wood
Right me if i am wrong
To stimulate backbudding cut back the new growth back to a couple pair of needles.

Seeing the new buds form does that mean that time is now?

Fathers day tomorrow.
In the next few weeks it will be time to cut shoots back,do root work.
Are you people ready?

Absolutely, Just need soil. I have a small one in qt./gallon container going right into a deep bonsai pot. It was labeled Pumilla but the needles are shorter than my other two which I believe are pumilla

I would love to see a photo of this guy once the needles start to open. I think you will be amazed at ho good this tree is going to look.
Happy Fathers Day even if you only have a pet raccoon. Hope the 60+ sink holes up there in Mi avoided your area and Mikes too.

Sorry, I've been plugging along with vacation and laying stone around my fireplace, battling needle cast and Springtail insects,
plus planting some landscape trees, so I've not posted any of the pics I took mid to late May.

I don't remember cutting the wire off, but according to this picture I did.
This Springs lime sulphur is a bit past due, but have some minor carving clean up to do
on a couple shoulders of jins. Appears to need some root grafting, but that's a bit out of my league for now.

I'll show a pic of my two trees to get my ticket punched (rather than inundate everyone with a bunch of pics)

This one I am not sure what direction I will ultimately follow, for now, its keep the tree alive and see what happens.

This picture shows the trunk better. Tree seems to point to a semi-cascade, which happens to also be what I want. Yay me!

I have pictures of from other sides if you guys have nothing better to do then to stare at the same tree that someone else has.

Also, Happy Father's Day to all the father's out there.

Happy Father's day... I thought I'd give this a go. It seemed to want to be a Cascade so I helped it along. I'll give it a few years like this as I would really like the trunk to bulk up.IMG_20180617_165849270_HDR.jpgIMG_20180617_173508749.jpg

Those happened in a place called Ironwood. It's in the Upper Penninsula.
Way far north of me and farther for Vance. .Thankfully.
Thank you for your concern though.
