I remember once seeing a literati planted on an old terracotta roof tile, and I think that same approach would look great for the trident, but probably too much upkeep to keep it watered. I think it needs a small strange pot to really put emphasis on the impression of height but also to play into the oddity of the tree. No matter what, I like it, its cool.

Personally I think this is pretty neat. Everything we do in bonsai was a new try at one time.
