Hi Bnutters,
I started this thread after reading this thread - First Tree from Bonsai White Belt.
Please join me if you think this is worth trying. I'll start....
I live in Houston/Katy Texas area. I have many projects going on in my back yard. I should have a few trees that I can give away to beginner to start their bonsai journey rather then have them start with heinous material. I think this is good because the giver and the receiver are in the same town which has similar growing conditions.
If you have extra plants and would like to donate, please put down your name and city so that folks can contact you to get started.
Do I have volunteer number 2?
Thanks,
NN

I live outside Richmond, VA. I guess I could serve anyone willing to drive here.

start with heinous material
I can't say mine aren't heinous haha...

Mostly outdoor deciduous available, very little in the conifer department, but some. Also available are ficus microcarpa and benjamina.

I like this idea @namnhi !

Me either, but I would be happy to contribute something. Closest big city to me would be St. Louis. Warning, most everything I have is tropical/sub-tropical. Nothing great.

You got quite a few years under your belt in this hobby so I trust your picks.

Any of you "masters" want to come on a Yamadori trip to Northern AZ for some junipers, cedar, or pinyon? I'll get the Coconino National Forest permit and go with you so it's legal. I only charge a fee of a mediocre tree but prettier than anything in my "collection" 🤣

I'll be taking some cuttings soon of the cork bark p. Afras you sent me this spring and I'll offer them up locally first. Gotta spread the love!

No clubs around here yet, but we're accumulating bonsai contacts and getting a bit more organized.

New to the hobby and located in Rancho Cucamonga CA in between LA and San Bernardino. If anyone is near would love to just chat about species that thrive here and try and learn some stuff from more experienced people!

I just start another batch of willow leaf ficus.

They came from pruning these.

All of these are coming from one tree I bought 15 or 16 years ago at JRN that I paid 18.00. The last photo is the plant I purchased which I then layered the top off.
