What’s your latest Bonsai related purchase?

This hobby seems to be getting expensive for you. Have you total up your expenses lately? :)
It is very expensive...I jumped from one expensive hobby (saltwater fish/coral reef keeping) to another...Hobbies are my weakness but it makes me happy and I rather be happy than sitting at home counting money any days lol. I never totaled up my purchases for my hobbies because I just dont wanna know...Cheers!

Happiness is exempt from price tags. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t have them but we choose to veto them in the face of happiness 🙂

Please be kind and show us the rarity!
So here it is, one of these variegated Desert Rose will be in my possession next week. This is what I sacrificed my prunus order for because I have wanted a variegated Adenium for quite a while now and they are ridiculously hard to find in Europe.
Seller has had them in stock since Wednesday but with Easter in the way shipping is understandably pushed to next week, I’m so excited 🤣🤣🤣. He also has some variegated Plumeria which is also on my radar.

Very cool never seen those, in asia they have made hundreds of cultivars and hybrids of Desert Rose

New Pots, two custom made for specific trees and some I personally selected for other trees! Outstanding work by Vicki Chamberlain of Ashland Oregon. She continues to take her craft to higher levels and her new glazes are incredible! You can check out her work at https://earthwares.org.
For those that have the opportunity to attend Pacific Bonsai Expo in November you will be able see her work in person. Definitely worth the wait for custom pots.

Not really a purchase, but a Japanese maple nursery I frequently go to and buy texted me the other day about some maples. They said they needed some more space come get these if you want them, who was I too turn down free maples. They are all plain green Japanese maples, time to start playing and experimenting!6A8375BB-E314-446B-80D9-D76422FC9F0B.jpeg

Time to plan some forest plantings with this young stock.

I have only ever seen 2 variegated cultivars though, a striped leaf one called “Milky Way” that has a red flower and this splash variegation that tends to have a white flower. You can find the hundreds of common cultivars quite easily in Europe but the variegated ones are near impossible. Importing in from Asia as a private buyer is also an awful lot of red tape in Germany so I was thrilled to find a small rare plant business importing some into Germany as part of thier stock.

Some steel and plastic colanders from Daiso Japan.

Good to know they have colanders too. I buy all my drainage screen from them amongst other random things. They also sell a decent little pruning sheer that's basically a pair of sharp scissors that cost a whole dollar. I bought 30 of them last time I went. I use them for random fine pruning of roots or smaller branches and they work great for a little while, then I transfer them to other random shop duties and get a new pair for my tree work.

Anyone have a corian pot? My buddy is a master at working corian. Finally was able to get him to sell me one of his pots. This stuff is indestructible. Super happy.

The 27 pound cocker spaniel is for scale only, NFS. My wife may be willing to negotiate however.
