it's about 30" tall, but is an engelmann spruce. The needles aren't quite as small as Ezo, but they're comparable.

Uncovered some interesting basal flare and movement, plus it's got a new pot :)

No work done to the fallen soldier. I do all my work on the species in late fall/winter, and I was spending the summer letting it gain strength. The saddest part was it was COVERED in new buds, then it just gave up...

Thanks guys. It has a LOT of backbudding since all I did last year was baby it (and the other two I bought), fertilize, and plan. I'm sure it will look good eventually once I have a chance to chase the foliage back toward the trunk and reduce the length of some of those upper branches. Sadly...

http://crataegus.com/ These are so beautiful straight from the dirt it's incredible. I actually visited Michael's nursery a couple months ago and had a chance to see them in person. They are truly spectacular. I love spruce, and these hemlocks are close to the feelings that spruce give me.

Woohoo! I somehow got the time off, so I'll be there! And most likely spend far too much money... Anyone else going?

I think the new pot choice is going to be great. I love the more rustic look with that awesome patina. Wonderful tree as well of course ;)
