Thanks guys. It has a LOT of backbudding since all I did last year was baby it (and the other two I bought), fertilize, and plan. I'm sure it will look good eventually once I have a chance to chase the foliage back toward the trunk and reduce the length of some of those upper branches.
Sadly, my favorite of the three I bought died at the end of the summer. It was an awesome little cascade which I thought was the healthiest of them, had the most backbudding, and them BAM, gone... The other is tall like this one but has better bark and slightly less movement. It will actually be even more of a challenge considering the branching on that one is thicker and the tree is much older. Should be fun though.
