Funny. There have been a few exhibitions of picture frames at National galleries over the years. Frames on pic like Michaelangelo’s Salvatore Mundi add millions to the price tag.

I sadly couldn’t enter because of a move at the wrong time. It was so stressful and took much longer than I expected. But today I was finally able to start my kiln up! As well as fire the pot I was going to enter

I couldn't enter either. The form I was working on had all sorts of problems and I only got one done before the deadline to submit, and the glazing turned out pretty mid, so I didn't insult them by asking them to judge it. Since then, I've gotten the form down pat, and now I have half a dozen waiting to be bisqued. By the end of the month, I hope to have 2 or 3 that I'm happy with.

I'm entering a collection of kintsugi pots for their special exhibit. Won't be part of the competition.

Sorry to hear. Makes sense, was it the application that was off or a glaze you were unsure about the outcome of?

Both, really. It's a combination of several glazes and an oxide wash. Three glazes go into little nooks and crannies, a runny white with with a lot of flux goes on at the rim, and the other two make up the bulk of the blue and brown color base colors of the pot. When it comes together, it's a very interesting aesthetic that might have fit the "cosmic" alt theme very nicely. Unfortunately, about a quarter of the time, it just doesn't work for random reasons. This time, in particular, it was on this new form and I wasn't sure how it all might break, and I ended up having to learn some stuff from the first attempt. I also noticed an issue with the feet that will be easy to correct. I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it enough to sell it, much less open it up to judging.
