And one of a shimpaku juniper I got at GSBF (with the help of my buddy Al)...

Both still need a lot of work... but I love them dearly, and especially love the feel of the juniper in the little 3.5 inch Sara Raynor pot. sweeeeeet!

Kindest regards,

Victrinia

That zelkova is fantastic. I didn't realize its small scale until the second pic with your hand in it. How do you maintain those tiny leaves. My zelkova pushes extremely large shoots. I have to begin regular defoliation to slow the damn thing down this spring...

the juniper is good too, just see alot of those...:D

lol.. That Zelkova looked huge... What a great tree.

Love the shimp...I will be sending a pre paid fed ex label for the shimp.. Keep an eye out..:D

:) The zelkova leaves on this won't get too large, but they will be larger in the end than this. I'll have to post photos of it in it's fully leafed out phase later. If you want one like it... I think Chris and Lisa Kirk of Telperion Farms still have a few. :) I'm not doing anything in particular to it.. it's just little... I think it's been a bonsai for quite a while.

I suppose one does see a lot of good shimps... :) I only have two though, and this one is the better of them. :)

Glad you liked the zelkova though!

I tell you what... I'll send it to you for wiring... but you HAVE to send it back! :p

I should have never told you about my buddy John. I should have kept the shimp for myself. kiddin!

Nah....I don't much play with junipers any longer so I am glad you have it. A John Wang special that one.

Is the zelcova from Chris and Lisa? I have one almost like it myself.

the zelkova was also repotted this spring.... so that helped slow it down a bit .... all the Z in our garden have been slow to come out this year... including this one ...
I can't wait to see how the Z responds to pruning this year.... it should be even more fantastic next winter .....

be warned... Z this nice (you should see the nebari that is under that moss!!!!) will cost you as much as full size tree (actually more than many) ... of course its worth every penny :)

We were actually surprised to see that the shimp fit into the SR pot.... we weren't sure at first (well Vic wasn't I was just stupervising [ie having a cigar] )

Zelcova seldom ever bud before April. Not slow, thats just when they bud. Like beech.

I have always been grateful for your swift assistance in acquiring it. And your zelkova is just Awesome! And yes, it's a Telperipn tree. Inch for inch the most expensive tree on my bench.... Lol

Mine put out new leaves in the beginning of march this year, but I live in Texas. It's been a warm spring.

You can say that again! and maybe twice for good measure!

See that evil laugh...I am told she does that all the way to the bank when I come around.

Thanks for posting that shimpaku it is really looking nice and it shoehorns into that pot perfectly, just the way a good shohin should.
