So I collected this Japanese maple that sprang up in my yard a couple years ago and tuned out to not be as amazing as I though it would be - But i'm gonna try my best to see what I can do with it. I was feeling the 80's and was super busy so the video is a little rushed in my opinion 🤷‍♂️

Nice video. Would I take on something like that? Hell yeah, and I do.
me too all the time! - I'm just trying to appease the youtube gods so one of my vids will go viral! In the mean time I like over editing and having fun.

as far as the maple - we'll see where it goes and i'll try and keep the growth to help fix a few of the issues

You would not believe how common this is.
Many trees look really great while they are in the ground.
As you dig they look progressively less attractive.
By the time you have it out of the ground you start to wonder whether the effort was worth it
When it goes into a pot or container you realise it was definitely not worth all the effort.

Even after careful assessment I was still only getting around 1 tree with good bonsai potential from every 5 I dug.
Collecting trees for bonsai is not quite as easy as it seems.

Hope this one improves as you work with it.

Man you gotta upgrade that saw brother!
Worth every penny 😁
I know, I know - I keep meaning to do it but I keep forgetting.

Yeah I know that. Virtually all my tree's are collected and you always get those ugly ducklings - but since I do bonsai as a way to relax and just enjoy nature, it's not as bad as say your trying to show tree's.

i enjoyed the humor in your video 👍
if this tree was mine, i would only keep the smallest tree because it has more qualities/potential than the main trunk.. my2cents

I did think that but at that point I was tired and didn't want to separate them.
