Is it too late to enter? I did some work on a nursery azalea this year, late springtime.
Bought this Encore azalea from local nursery and I liked it's twin trunk look. Bought it and chopped it same day: May 27, 2020.
first leaves came out around June 18-23. And those first leaves started maturing a bit more around July 5th.

I will post later today photo of what it looks like now, it has magnificent small leaves that remind me of satsuki.

Here’s how it’s looking like today. Lush and vigorous growth though I’ve noticed it’s stopped growing so I’m wondering if it’s in the period where it is maybe growing flower buds? We will see.
spring time I will bare root it carefully and place in bonsai pot.

Sure you can enter......you're a little behind some of us though.

I think you're off to a good start. Once those extend a little further you should consider wiring them into posititon. If you work it right you can make a killer twin trunk shohin from that one for sure by the end of the contest.
