I've had this tree for a couple of years now, maybe three or four. Don't exactly remember.
It was given to me by a friend because it was rotting away and he had lost interest in it.
I posted it on Facebook asking for an opinion on a front, though I've already chosen the front.

First shot is before beginning any work on the tree.
Trunk was covered in algae. Cleaned with water and vinegar.
Then using a wire brush, I cleaned rotten wood as much as possible.

This thread is going to take a few posts to get all the pics included.

I think this first photo is the oldest shot I have of the tree, about two years ago.
At the time I was still at my old place.
I think this photo was sometime in May 2014.

Using this as a reference, you can see how much wood has deteriorated over the years.
I haven't been using anything to preserve it, but today I went and got Minwax Wood Hardener so I can start slowing it down.

Repotted into a large drum.

Pictures 1 and 2 are my choices for the front, respectively.

The last photo, in person, is the most interesting view of the deadwood.
There is a terrible amount of depth lost in the photo.
Regardless, it is not a suitable choice for the front anyhow.

And because a lot of times people talk about the inspiration for their design, or their inspiration....
I'm calling this tree Crocomire after the boss from Super Metroid on SNES.

I still own a SNES and Super Metroid.
Nostalgia.

Later in the year, once it comes out of dormancy I'll wire and do some real pruning.
2015 I thinned it once, and topiary trimmed it a few times so I could get some branches to work with.

I like picture 1 of your choices for the front if you're asking for opinions Seth.
I love drum pots.
