Brazilian raintree

If I were you, I'd aim to keep it the size it is today, just making it more compact. It has a nice architecture and can be a very nice small tree, just getting fatter over time. They are hard to reign in, but be ready to clip the leader every time it exceeds your imaginary profile and it will fill in nicely.

This tree has great movement!!! Are you planning on cutting back the top branches and bringing into a more compact tree? What are your thoughts?

Very nice elegant trunk line on this. Would love to be able to experiment with it. Have you considered something maybe 25% shorter, along these lines? Would obviously have to fine tune the branching/pads and probably remove that heavy trunk segment in the top (or jin it) but a light/airy spreading style could work well I think.

Nice.

I'd like to see it in an appropriate pot before making any severe styling decisions.

A thin rectangle about as wide as the picture would make me this rendition of the tree swell I reckon.

Thanks for looking. I indeed will continue to bring it down. Thanks @sorce for the pot recommendation. I've had the tree for about a year now and was letting it get healthy as I learn about its dieback tendencies with pruning. I'm looking forward to developing it for sure.

forward to developing it

Keep diligent about your branch sizing.

The low ones seem ready to be overtaken in size by the top ones. Once they do it's hard to flip em back.

I am not familiar with rain tree. But perhaps cutting the multi leaves in half at the top will help. Along with letting the lows extend quite far before cutting them back.

Since the lowers will then be getting less ramification then the top, don't be afraid to cut the shit out of the top.

Many a raintree have this problem, exacerbated by improper lighting in winter.
Side and low-pad lighting is highly recommended.

You have a great start. I reckon you can keep it that way!

some good threads from @c54fun with some material similar to yours...... @Hack Yeah!
:)

Thanks @LanceMac10 for linking those threads. I've read them and will be going back through them. I'll certainly chop the top down more just haven't been in a hurry with it. How do they do with wiring?

@atlarsenal , got this one from Rodney. I'm not certain to how he came across it. I figured it may have originally came from Brussels.

I'm going to trim my BRT's up today also. They're getting pretty shaggy.
