Collected multi-trunk pomegranate

Collected this fairly big multi trunk pomegranate. It has some twists at the base. Will let it recover over fall and winter and do some heavy pruning next spring. Will eventually do big trunk chops when buds pop lower. Looking forward to developing this one.

October 30, 2021: all the leaves have fallen. I assumed the tree was shutting down for winter. However, I noticed some new budding. Hopefully, the tree will still go into dormancy once winter hits. I would like to make some large bends near the base for this multi-trunk.

I’m thinking just guy wire and anchor to the pot for all four trunks now. Has anyone attempted this during this time of the season?

I find these to be very brittle. Be carefull with bending big branches, and consider alternative approaches.

Update 20th June 2022:

I had used the long thick trunks as leverage to bend them and put guy wires on. Now, since it’s been putting out a new flush of growth in the interior, i lopped off the long trunks right after the guy wires. I will cut even more with more interior growth.
