Crape Myrtle Crazy

Crazy your have already leafed out! We cant be any more than 25 miles away from each other and the buds on mine are just starting to swell!

They all look great!

I winter mine in my garage so that could account for the difference. First it was the elms, then the maples and finally the crapes. I do have 2 more that are about 2 weeks behind these and they were in the same garage so who knows.
 
I decided I was not feeling this:



So I chopped it. And here's where I am now:

 
I repotted this one into a larger, more shallow pot hoping to improve the surface roots. They aren't bad already under that moss but hopefully a year in this pot will help.



And then I plan to chop around the red lines to develop a nice, smaller tree.

 
And this one got a new pot too. I LOVE this Richard Robertson pot that I picked up from New England Bonsai Gardens.

 
I took a bunch of pictures this morning so i figured I would go ahead and update. I've thinned out the herd a little and tried to keep the ones that either meant something to me or I thought had the best potential.

First up are the pokomokes. I've tried not to trim these too much this year hoping for some better blooming than I've had in the past





These next 2 came from my wife's old house. I yanked some seedlings out of her driveway. I went ahead and did a major chop job on the 2nd one and got it into a smaller pot. It's leafing out again now.





I think this semi cascade is going to be really nice in a couple years. I should look neat in a couple months when it blooms. It bloomed heavy last year.



And these last 2 are nursery purchases that I made 2 years ago for $7. I'll let the 1st one grow out some more and then cut it back hard to chase the growth in a little closer. The 2nd one got chopped early this spring and I think it was definitely the right move.



 
So photobucket decided to start enforcing a no 3rd party embedding policy and all of my images from my progression threads are gone. Unless I want to pay them $400 per year! Assholes!

Anyway, it was a decent day today. After only like 97,310 diet cokes, I got one with my name on it. Yay!

Time to update the crapes. First up is my pokomoke group. I got a sucker at the bottom of the big tree that I'm going to let grow to see what I can make of.
