Sigh. It is not as if christianity doesn't contain the same ideas. That currently it is not acted upon as much is a much different story. It is not the religion, it is the individuals' acts. Remember that as little as a few decades ago half the world was still a colony which was also considered proper, bible-in-hand.

Indeed. Religion is a bad idea. Especially when it becomes filled with dogma's and old people get to dictate how the rest of the world should interpret a book that was written a few centuries ago. As if they were there then.

GEEZE, having bad ideas in religion is not the issue it is acting on those bad ideas, like stoning. When was the last time a public stoning took place in the USA? Witch dipping, burning at the stake the list can be almost endless when you take the things so-called religious people do and claim those policies and founded in the word of God.

Thank God the Protestant Reformation made the Bible accessible to the unwashed masses so that it became more difficult for these people who control a religion to get away with crap. Unfortunately Islam has not gone through this process and probably never will.

You have to remember that God gave us his word and God gave us a brain and God gave us access to his Holy Spirit so that we could educate ourselves and make up our own minds in-spite of some teacher, some politician or some demo-god, or some self serving preacher that sounds good and does bad.

You guys can believe what you want, but if you don't worship the all-mighty Moss Piglets, you're on the wrong track!

Long live Tardigrades... actually, not much CAN kill them.

I believe that this bit of a story comes from the Iraqi Nationalized person who went over to Iraq and was unable to bring his mother home because of the travel restrictions from seven countries. Therefore his mother died because of Donald Trump. It has been revealed today that the story was a fraud as it was described the travel restrictions had nothing to do with why the lady died. His mother died in Iraq a couple of weeks before the President signed the travel restrictions.

regardless, there are people that have already been vetted by the feds, that are from those 7 countries, now can't come into the country. there are many people that are here now that if they left the US, wouldn't be allowed back in, even though they may have jobs and families here.

You can be an antisemite all you want, and hate on Jesus all you want.
Trump still won.
Eat it.

Don't be ridiculous. I'm a pro-Israel Christian. I'm not an anti-Semite in the least, and I certainly am not one to hate on Jesus. Just because I buy into the Gospel when it conflicts with the ramblings of Revelation doesn't make me a hater of Jesus.

I don't find you interoperation of the ramblings of Revelation at all contrary with the teachings or nature of Jesus.

Quick quiz (admittedly, not my original work) for those who've read the Gospel:

Would Jesus kill little children because their parents sinned?

Would Jesus vomit you and me out of the Kingdom of heaven for being only "lukewarm"?

Would Jesus reject his own teachings about forgiveness and salvation through faith in Jesus and limit salvation only to those with the most righteous works?

Would Jesus reject his own teachings about turning the other cheek and instead direct his disciples to rule with an iron rod instead of love?

Would Jesus send you to hell for not believing every word of the Book of Revelation, including the warnings about the time of Christ's return, even though Jesus himself said in Matthew 24:36, "no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father" ?

Would Jesus tell you he is coming soon and then not come?

If you read the Gospels, and not Revelation, you'd answer no to all six questions. If you read Revelation and forget about the Gospels, you'd give us a hearty yes six times.

NO. Every name is written in the book of life until they sin and it is taken out until it can be redeemed by the blood of Jesus. That takes a voluntary commitment to ask God for it.

Would Jesus vomit you and me out of the Kingdom of heaven for being only "lukewarm"?

YES

Would Jesus reject his own teachings about forgiveness and salvation through faith in Jesus and limit salvation only to those with the most righteous works?

NO; JESUS SAID THE RTGHTIOUS SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.
JESUS SAID I AM THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE AND NO ONE COMES UNTO THE FATHER EXCEPT BY ME

Would Jesus reject his own teachings about turning the other cheek and instead direct his disciples to rule with an iron rod instead of love?

NO but I fail to see what this has to do with this discussion. Jesus at one point gave his disciples this kind of authority and they wanted to call jusdgment down on a community that didn't like them. Thus Jesus nick-named them the sons of thunder as he took that power from them.

Would Jesus send you to hell for not believing every word of the Book of Revelation, including the warnings about the time of Christ's return, even though Jesus himself said in Matthew 24:36, "no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father" ?

YES; Jesus said as you quoted but he did also say no one knows the day or the hour but he told us the generation. As to Revelation; Jesus said he by the Spirit if anybody adds to the Revelation the curses in it will be added onto him and anyone who takes away from these prophecy shall have his part taken out of the book of life. You figure what this means.

Would Jesus tell you he is coming soon and then not come?

NO Butt because I may be wrong about when he is coming does not mean he is not coming.

You need to read it all again and stop listening to some of the voices you are listening to. You need to read the prophetic books in the Old Testament.

My apologies
I misunderstood

speed of light = 186,000 miles per second

light will travel about 9 trillion kms or 6 trillion miles per year

the Milky Way has a diameter of between 100,000 and 180,000 light years

it has between 100 and 400 billion stars and 100 billion planets

most Galaxies have roughly 1 trillion objects (stars and planets, etc) in them

and scientists have just recently expanded the "observable universe" to 3 trillion Galaxies...

... now, how insignificant does that make ALL of "the little books of truth" that so many want to hang their hats (and their heads) on?...

The bible bashers and other religious knuckle draggers just can't seem to let go of the fairy tale. (maybe it's some inherent fear or something) What we need is a rigorous scientific investigation into the workings of the brains of these people to see if they can't be pulled out of the primitive man syndrome (PMS) and into the light...That would be a good start toward a positive future....instead of more of the same old bullshit.

Don't be one of the frightened. Please realize this fact. ALL religious doctrine came out of the head and mouth of humans. If someone appeared in Central Park tomorrow and said ''follow me coz God spoke to me last night'' would he be followed? Most probably no. Why? because he can be seen for what he is....a nut job. They are were all the same. Just because these same kind of nut jobs walked around 1000 years ago doesn't change anything. Minds were even more simple back then. People would believe just about anything. The ''man in the parks' story from back then is what you are believing now. Can't you see that?
Every society had their man in the park.

I am willing to say that as ignorant humans, we just simply don't know the truth...
But subscribing to the theory of evolution, and the the big bang, and all that is equally nonsensical.
IMHO.

For me, it is much easier to believe in a higher power of unknown origin, especially considering we don't even know our own origin, than to believe that the entire universe happened by chance, that's all.
