Fall color thread

Your pot choices with your smaller trees are always so intriguing and inspiring. Both the shapes and colours always compliment the trees so well.
Thank you so much for noticing. For me the pot is a large part of the presentation. I have long been a student of pot/tree pairings, so this means a lot to me.

mmmmm. you'll have to post in a week after we have no color left. Snow here in two days. So early this cold and snow. Lovely as always Brian! Sorry about Bam. :(
Thanks, a disappointing loss, but LSU was the better team tonight. Burrow was nearly perfect.

Cool!Really clinging to the rock.
Your Bonsai always look unique to me and of good quality
It's one of my very first attempts at bonsai when I started at 22 from a seedling dug up near my back door. I'm 51 now. The whole top of the tree is a thread graft as I used this tree to practice on. A few years later it got attacked by a fungus and the graft was the only branch below the infection. A keen eye will notice that the roots and first 2-3 inches are the older, silvery colour and then it goes a lot darker. Amazingly, the drill hole is also visible.

KH at peak, so thought I'd share another pic. Had to defoliate most of the stuff that was past prime as it's going to ice and snow later today. Odd, as I just finished working out in the yard in a sweatshirt, going to be a harsh change up with highs in the 30's for most of the rest of the week. Trident is getting better. The Beautyberry was ready to defoliate, so here she is with just her jewelry on.

Both look great, Judy!

We're preparing for about 10" of snow followed by two days where temps will barely reach the 20s. Had to rush most of the trees into shelters and didn't have time to remove all the leaves, clean up the soil, etc. So everything will have to be pulled out again for that. Hate when winter rushes in so early like this (so does my back!).

Yes I was lucky to have part of this day to get most of them done. Azaleas are not ready yet, so they'll have to come out to get cleaned, and I'm keeping a few others that are so nice, I couldn't bring myself to take the leaves yet. I have one word for your back.... you know what that is, right?

This is the fall color here . It was in the mid to high 60's yesterday, we ate lunch on the patio. Low tonight suppose to be 10 degrees. snow today.jpg

Yeah, I know ;) Thing is, most of my trees aren't that large, but there are too many. Plus a lot of other yard chores had to get done in a hurry as well, such as cleaning out the gutters, picking up/storing yard stuff, etc. What I would normally do over 2-3 weeks had to happen in a few days.

Sweet! Do you know what type it is? They can change so quick so keep an eye on it!

It's a rubrum but that's as specific as I know. I got it from @Eric Group from SC, and it seems to be a different variety that the ones that grow in my yard. But I don't know if it's drummondi, trilobum or something else.

I will definitely keep an eye on it. I want to take a better pic when it's at its peak.

This maple is my best one so far. I feel like the yellow is going to get more orangey but we'll see what happens over the next few days.
