First of all we have great news! Bill Valavanis has agreed to judge our work! Thank you Bill!

Also, do not submit your finished photos on any of the existing threads. There will be a new thread for each category available on the 17th (next Wednesday). Please don’t post any comments on those threads about someone else’s work until after the judging results have been posted. We need to keep the threads as clean as possible so Bill can judge the work without distractions. Any questions?

Also, everyone needs to thank each other for keeping everything FUN! We had about 32 members that wanted to participate so I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more qualifying entries in the coming days. And don't forget the "Questions Thread" if you looking for some guidance.

That's very nice of Bill and I'm excited to see everyone's results.

I think the key to any contest is the credibility of the judge. There is no one more qualified to judge this simple contest than William. That alone adds valuable credence to this fun project.

Thanks Bill and Vin.

Hey hey! I Was waiting for the "different thread for finished projects" instruction. Kinda been waiting for it. First annual, so you can slide for it! Wink.

Poking Vin! Thanks a bunch for your diligence with all this!

And Bill, excellent news!, thanks for participating. Puts a different honor in it.

Fun? I've never wired a Juniper before. Intermediate? Er, yeah. After stripping and "annealing" some wire and bending some branches,(not via applied wire), I am looking forward to the challenge with an understanding that....

YOU ALL MAKE THIS LOOK EASY!

Besides some ficus and Ulmus the only "bending branches" I know is my kayak paddle!

Thanks Vin.
Thanks Bill.

Yes I was waiting!

HUGE thank you to Bill for being willing to judge a contest using less than spectacular material.
Hope he doesnt laugh himself silly when he sees mine.
Definately adds some pressure to it for me.

Well, one way to look at it is probably won't take him long to evaluate the material :)

I am surprised Bill has time with the US national going on, so that is great to hear. (And somewhat intimidating )

The Exhibition is over on the 13th and entries to our challenge will end on the 20th. His words to me were that he is busy but he'll make time to judge and it sounded like fun. A true gentlemen...

Just thought everyone would like to know that we now have over 40 members that have either indicated they are participating or submitted their entry. That is truly amazing and very humbling. Thank you all!

Just to keep everyone on the same page, rocks are allowed as long as they fit within the circumference of the pot. If your trying to do a root over rock and you think you can pull it off then that is acceptable.

Didn't see this before...mine is done. Went in without expectations, not planning to win...I just don't have the heart to change mine out. I really am pleased with it's look. :o

2. Tree must be displayed in the pot it came in. You can cut around the rim or take it out of the pot to work on but finished photos must show the tree in its original pot. You can change the display angle anyway you like by placing it another pot or however you wish to do it. Photos must clearly show the tree in the original pot.

I assumed when pot could be cut it could allow a rock to protrude out. If the tree extended out past it further.

Oh well...it's been fun!

Thanks Vin for bringing this contest about!

Tick tock, tick tock

Box Store Challenge contestants. Please don't forget you have until midnight tomorrow to submit your newly purchased entry in the appropriate category. Also, late tomorrow the "Final Entry" threads will be available. These are the threads that we really need to refrain from commenting on. You will have until midnight on Saturday to submit your final tree. Good luck to all!
